Understanding Your MentionRank Score

Understanding Your MentionRank Score

Your MentionRank score is the key metric that shows your brand's visibility across AI platforms. Here's how to interpret it and what you can do to improve.

Score Range

Your score ranges from 0 to 100:

| Score | Rating | Interpretation |

|-------|--------|----------------|

| 0-20 | Low | Work needed - AI rarely mentions your brand |

| 20-40 | Average | Room for improvement - occasional mentions |

| 40-60 | Good | Competitive - regular AI visibility |

| 60-80 | Excellent | Industry leader - frequent recommendations |

| 80+ | Exceptional | Dominant presence - top-of-mind for AI |

How Your Score is Calculated

Your score combines multiple factors:

1. Mention Rate (40%)

The percentage of queries where your brand is mentioned. If you're mentioned in 15 out of 50 queries, your mention rate is 30%.

2. Position Quality (30%)

When you ARE mentioned, how prominently? Being listed first is worth more than being fifth.

3. Model Coverage (20%)

Are you visible across ALL major AI platforms, or just one? Broad coverage indicates stronger brand recognition.

4. Consistency (10%)

How stable is your visibility over time? Consistent performers rank higher than volatile ones.

  • Historical trends: How your score has changed over time

Industry Context

Scores vary significantly by industry:

  • Established brands in competitive industries might have scores of 60+
  • Startups often begin with scores under 20
  • Niche markets might see high scores with fewer queries

Always compare your score to your direct competitors rather than across industries.

Improving Your Score

Common factors that improve AI visibility:

  1. Quality content - AI models are trained on web content
  2. Brand mentions - More citations across the web
  3. Clear positioning - Consistent messaging about what you do
  4. Industry authority - Expert content and thought leadership
